While cosmetic surgery can provide many benefits for patients, there is also a high chance of serious complications. Many patients are unaware of the risks and this can lead to a lot stress. There are inherent risks to surgery as it is an invasive procedure. Some of these risks are higher than others, however.
Vicarious experience

While it may be difficult to discuss the experience, individuals should avoid taking a loved one's reactions personally. They should carry on with their day and be in touch with their family and friends.
Self-rated attractiveness
Recent research examined the relationship between self-rated physical attractiveness, and psychological well-being in adolescents. Participants were asked to rate their own physical attractiveness and self-reported levels of suicidal ideation and self-harm. Results showed that male adolescents were more attractive than female peers. In girls, however, self-rated attractiveness was negatively associated with internalized distress. These associations only reached statistical significance in girls, and occurred only in relation to suicidal ideation and self-harmed behavior.
Religiousness
Researchers have found that people's religious beliefs can influence their decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. Researchers found that people who are more religious than others were less likely to undergo cosmetic surgery. Further research is needed in order to understand the relationship between religiousness, cosmetic surgery risks and cosmetic success.
Income from the Household
A correlation was found between household incomes, and the possibility of having cosmetic surgery. The study found that people with higher incomes were more likely to have the procedure than those who had lower incomes. To evaluate SES, researchers used the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics measure of gross family income. It is a well-known method of assessing SES. The results have shown that it can be used to assess health disparities within different socioeconomic classes.
Liquid silicone facial injections
While liquid silicone injections are a common cosmetic procedure, there are still risks. Some patients might experience temporary swelling or bruising. Infections

These infections can be difficult for standard gram staining to detect and are resistant to many antibacterial drugs.
